Other projects that he was the driving force behind include the Head Start Charter program for the city of Baltimore, BUILD, and Nehemiah Housing for the poor.
In addition to these projects he along with the Goon Squad helped elect Parren J Mitchell as the first African American Congressman from Maryland and Judge Joe Howard to the bench. His voice quelled tenions during the 1968 riots and he fought for civil rights across the nation with leaders such as Martin Luther King Jr., Walter P Carter, and Jesse Jackson. Later he collaborated with Jim Rouse on a community where blacks and whites could thrive as families, Columbia.
He continues to mentor men and women in Maryland in the ministry as well as in politics.
