By the looks of things at HarborView's Tabrizi's restaurant, it meant a great summer shindig. More than 200 people in Hawaiian shirts, sundresses - and yes, plenty of flip-flops - browsed a silent auction, chowed down on a variety of hors d'oeuvres, and sampled choices at a rum tasting station.
The big draw was the opportunity to mingle with former Ravens, including co-chairs Edwin Mulitalo and Michael McCrary, Spencer Folau, Mike Flynn, Brad Jackson, Qadry Ismail and Kyle Richardson.
But, on a night where even the cupcakes sported flip-flops, not all attendees did - including one of the co-chairs.
"I don't do flip-flops," McCrary said with a laugh, as he slid by in brown slip-ons.
The fundraiser was for the Life and Breath Foundation, which is dedicated to finding a cure for sarcoidosis. However, foundation president Sean Hull also had forgone the evening's footwear.
"I don't look as good in flip-flops," he said, as he glanced down at his black loafers.
Washington government TV producer Brenda Mallory was breezy in a navy blue sundress.
"It goes with my flip-flops," she said with a giggle, as she wiggled her toes under blue daisy decorated sandals.
Committee member Susanne Radek claimed she had gotten her footgear half right.
"They flip," she explained, as she snapped her bronze wedge sandals back and forth.
