When we "Glimpsed" the Cockeysville resident at The Center Club, she equated her taste in designer clothes to the standards of her profession. "I don't spend money on things that don't have quality. I'm a Steinway artist. I only play on Steinway [pianos] because Steinway is the real thing. ... I'm not a snob. Instead of buying 10 things, I would rather buy one thing and know it will last."
The look: Winter-white wool gabardine Kamosho Paris jacket. Winter-white wool Giorgio Armani skirt. Leopard-print faux-wrap jersey top. White textured Armani tights. Leopard-print and gold suede Gucci pumps. Gold teardrop-shaped hoop earrings. Pewter woven-leather headband. Natural alligator Hermes Birkin handbag.
Where it came from: She bought the jacket and shoes in Italy, and her earrings in Brazil. The skirt is part of an Armani suit she bought in Europe, though she can't remember exactly where. She found the jersey top at Saks Fifth Avenue, her tights at Bloomingdale's, and her handbag at Bergdorf Goodman, all in New York City. She purchased her headband at Nordstrom.
No seasonal shopping sprees: "I don't update [my wardrobe] for the season. ... I just brought in my winter clothes. For instance, I have a Valentino suit. You don't update something that's so expensive. That's something you can wear for 10 years. Some people have 30 to 40 purses in their closet. I have no more than 6 or 8. ..."
When she does buy, it's always designer: "My favorites are Valentino, Yves Saint Laurent. I love Chanel; I love their shoes and their purses. In the U.S., I do love Donna Karan; She's very feminine. ... I love Giorgio Armani suits."
Where she shops: "In Baltimore, I only shop at Nordstrom or Ruth Shaw at the Village of Cross Keys. I'm probably gone five months a year, in South America and Europe to play concerts. I love to shop in Brazil. ... You go into a mall there, and they have small boutiques rather than department stores. ... I do not appreciate mass production."
