World War I's impact on Maryland

One hundred years ago, the U.S. entered World War I, marking a turning point in the history of the nation and of Maryland. "World War I changed everything," said Joseph Balkoski, the historian for the Maryland National Guard. "The Army we know today -- the Maryland we know today -- was made in 1917."
