FAU will open the Sun Belt tournament Wednesday when they play Western Kentucky at noon.
The Owls (32-22, 17-13) are the No. 5 seed, and the Hilltoppers (32-22, 17-13) earned the No. 4 seed because they won the regular season series against FAU 2-1.
The Sun Belt changed its format from double-elimination to pool play, with each pool containing four teams that will play each other once, with bracket winners meeting in the championship game.
In addition to WKU, FAU will face No. 1 seed Troy (40-16, 21-0) and No. 8 Arkansas-Little Rock. FAU won the regular season series against Troy and UALR.
FAU will play Troy on Thursday at 8 p.m., then gets a day off before playing UALR Saturday at noon.
Louisiana-Monroe is the host school, but the Warhawks finished last in the 10-team conference and did not qualify for the tournament.
