Running

The Rudolph 5k Run or Two-Person Relay will be held Dec. 3 at Rockburn Branch Park. Run the whole 5k or team up with a friend and do a two-person relay (each teammate runs 2.5k, which is slightly more than 1.5 miles). Submit a Letter to the Editor for the Laurel Leader, Columbia Flier and Howard County Times

The Centennial Boosters will hold their first Turkey Trot and Dog Walk, Sun., Nov. 27 at 9 a.m. The 5k run utilizes Centennial High School's cross country course. Dogs are welcome, but not required, on the one-mile walk around the northern and central parts of campus. The kids run will be on the track. Lacrosse

The U.S. women's national senior team will be conducting a youth instructional clinic Dec. 3 for girls in grades 3-12 at Champions Fieldhouse, in Rockville. The clinic will be offered to all current US Lacrosse members for $55, from 9-11:30 a.m. (grades 3-8) and 12:30-3 p.m. (grades 9-12). These unique educational sessions will be led by the 2011-2012 U.S. women's national team. Goalie-specific instruction will also be provided. Baseball

The regular meeting of Talking Baseball will be held Dec. 10 at 9 a.m. at Brighton Gardens, 7110 Minstrel Way, in Columbia. Bob Luke will discuss his book, "The Most Famous Woman in Baseball: Effa Manley and the Negro Leagues." Everyone is welcome.

Soccer

SAC will hold two Thanksgiving Break clinics. These clinics are for boys and girls ages 5-12 and will be instructional and fun.

The clinics will be held at the Soccer Dome, in Jessup, Wednesday and Friday, Nov. 23 and 25. There is an option to attend an all-day clinic (9 a.m.-4 p.m.) or half-day clinics (9-noon or 1-4 p.m.). Players attending the all-day clinic need to bring a lunch or purchase a lunch from the Soccer Dome snack bar.

The clinics are moduled as technical training sessions.  On Nov. 23 the focus is on shooting and finishing. On Nov. 25, the focus will be on dribbling.  Call 443-851-0844 or email john@mdsoccer.com.

Thunder Soccer Club is looking for players to add to its U-11 boys soccer program. This age group currently has three teams that compete in the NCSL, CMSSL and BBSL. Tryouts will be held Jan. 8 at 1 p.m. at in the Howard Community College gym. RSVP to 443-545-4034.

The Draganov School of Soccer will hold a Winter Indoor 4v4 Soccer program at the Howard Community College gymnasium. The training will emphasize foot skills development. The small-sided soccer game played on a quick hard surface will help improve first touch and quick decision making under pressure. Space is limited to 18 players per age group.
