Running

The Storm in the Swamp 5k and Mommy Trot will be held Sat., Sept. 24 at Reservoir High School. Race day registration is $17; the Mommy Trot (one lap of the track) is free. The race is a combined effort between the Long Reach and Reservoir field hockey teams. Donations are accepted and proceeds will be split between the ALS Foundation (Long Reach) and Susan G. Komen for the Cure (Reservoir). The Mommy Trot starts at 9 a.m.; the 5k at 9:30. A post-race celebration will be held at Looney's Pub in Maple Lawn. Email Lrfieldhockey@gmail.com with questions.

 

The Howard County Striders are holding a youth cross country meet at Centennial High School Sept. 25. Registration starts at 11:30 a.m. and costs $5. The course walk will be held at 12:45 p.m. and the races begin at 1:30, with the youngest going first. This event is for children born in 1997 or later. Go to http://www.bullseyerunning.com.

 

The 25th annual BWI Airport 4-mile run and 2-mile family walk will be held Sept. 25 at the BWI Airport Midfield Cargo Warehouse Complex. The race starts at 8 a.m. and benefits children with Down syndrome. Walkers and runners of all ages and abilities are invited to participate. Cost: $30 (adults); $15 (children 13-under). Cheerleading

Golf

Basketball

 

The Dunloggin Middle School boys' JV basketball program will hold its first tryouts Sept. 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Dunloggin Middle School in Ellicott City. The tryouts are for all interested sixth and seventh grade boys. Call 410-456-3252.
