The Sharks Travel Basketball tryouts will begin in September at middle and high schools in Howard County. Tryouts will be held in the evening and are available for boys in third through eighth grade, along with girls in fourth through eighth grade. The WHC Force Travel basketball tryouts will be held for eighth grade boys on Sept. 8 (2-4 p.m. at the Glenwood Community Center), Sept. 10 (7-9 p.m. at Folly Quarter Middle School) and Sept. 15 (11 a.m.- 1 p.m. at Glenwood Community Center). The Maryland RoughRider high school and youth club lacrosse program has announced the addition of four new coaches to the program, headlined by former University of Maryland and MLL standout Brian Reese. In addition to Reese, Eric Diprospero, Jon Robinson and Matt Warner are all joining the coaching staff. The RoughRider program will begin tryouts for its Spring/Summer teams on Sept. 8.


The Baltimore Tennis Patrons are beginning to put together their travel teams and instructional tennis programs for the 2013-14 Junior Indoor League season for boys and girls in fourth-12th grade. In Howard County, there are three teams based out of the Owen Brown Tennis Club and three teams based out of the Columbia Athletic Center. Many high school players in Howard County play in the league to gain instruction and match experience.
