Special Olympics

Special Olympics Howard County will sponsor its 12th annual Inspiration Walk on Saturday, April 20 at Centennial Park. Proceeds from the walk will provide funding for local sports training and athletic competition in 19 sports for over 570 Howard County children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Registration begins at 8 a.m., and the walk will be kicked off at 9:15. Walkers with a minimum of $25 in pledges will get a tee-shirt and be entered in a random prize drawing for gifts donated by area businesses. Football/cheerleading

The Ellicott City Patriots Youth Football, Cheer and Poms Program is seeking volunteer coaches for the upcoming 2013 season. The Patriots are looking for strong leaders for mentoring ages 5 through 14. The football program needs head and line coaches, and team admins and the cheer and poms program needs assistant, conditioning, dance, tumbling, and competition routine coaches. Golf

The spring session for The First Tee of Howard County, for ages 5-17, begins April 20. Registration is still open, however classes are filling quickly. Register online at http://www.thefirstteehowardcounty.org, or call 410-730-1114.

Lacrosse

The M&D 2016 Girls Club Lacrosse team is hosting a series of youth lacrosse clinics at The Trinity School (4985 Ilchester Road, Ellicott City). The clinics will be held April 21, April 28 and May 5. Age 5-7 clinics will be held from 2:30-4 each day, followed by an age 8-10 clinic from 4:30-6 each day. Attend all three dates for only $75 ($25 per clinic).

All skill levels welcome. Have fun while learning all aspects of the game. Participants are required to bring goggles, mouth guard, lacrosse stick, water bottle and athletic footwear. Parents are encouraged to attend with their daughters and a "parent clinic" will be held at 4 p.m. on each date (teaching the basics of girls lacrosse), while the M&D 2016 Girls will conduct an intra-squad scrimmage.
