The Cindy LaRue League, an informal co-rec softball league, is looking for players age 19 and older — especially couples and women — from all parts of Howard County. This is slow-pitch, non-competitive softball played on Sunday afternoons at Wilde Lake Middle School from late April to August. Athletic skill not required. Everyone plays. The Ellicott City Patriots Cheer and brand new poms squad is looking for head coaches, assistant coaches, teen coaches, competition coaches, tumbling coaches, stunt coaches, dance coaches, fitness trainers and administrative helpers.

Registration for the Ellicott City Patriots football, cheer and poms squads is March 17 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Howard County Recreation and Parks headquarters, 7120 Oakland Mills Road, Columbia.


The Howard County Junior Striders spring track registration is open. Practice starts March 26 and will be held Monday and Thursday evenings through May 21. There are two locations: sprinters and field event athletes born 2005 and before will practice at Oakland Mills, distance runners born in 2005 and before and all participants born in 2006 or 2007 will practice at Atholton. Booster camps

The River Hill Boosters are sponsoring summer sports camps at River Hill High School. The camps are designed to help young athletes improve their fundamental athletic skills. Weekly camps begin June 18 and run from 9 a.m.-noon or 1-4 p.m. Over 20 different camps are offered including football, dance and an Allied Sports camp.
