Sports notices: Youth baseball umpiring classes set to begin

Baseball

The Tri-County Umpires Association is holding classes for anyone interested in umpiring youth baseball in Howard County, Baltimore and the surrounding areas. Classes begin in January. Call 410-916-5655 for details.

AYRA spring 2013 baseball registration is open. The season runs from April 1 through the end of the school year. Register by Feb. 20 to receive Early Bird discounts. Go to ayra.com for details.

Soccer

Registration is now open for the Elkridge Youth Organization spring soccer program. Registration ends Feb. 28 and individuals are encouraged to register early, as some leagues will fill up. EYO soccer is a co-ed, recreational program that places an emphasis on instruction, fitness and fun. Games are played at Rockburn Park.

Teams are available for ages 4-18 and there are no tryouts required for the recreational leagues. For more information, or to register, visit eyosoccer.org or send an email with "EYO" in the subject line to eyosoccer@yahoo.com.

Running

Terrapin Adventures has partnered with Playworks Baltimore to host a 5K Terrapin and the Hare Mud Run on May 5 in Savage. The course, which winds through the woods, will include climbing walls, tires, webs and mud obstacles. The race will have two heats, one at 9 a.m. and one at 10 a.m.

Registration is $30 prior to March 15 and $40 after. Participants are also required to raise a minimum of $25 for Playworks Baltimore. Pre-registration is available at terrapinmudrun.com.
