The Top Flight Gymnastics (Columbia) USAG Optional Men's Teams participated in the 2013 Men's Junior Olympics National Championships in Oregon May 2-5.

Level 10 JO Finals (17): Alex Bofill - Floor, Vault.

At the USA Gymnastics Level 9 Eastern National Championships May 5-7 at the Kellog Arena in Michigan, River Hill sophomore Madison Briel won the senior 5 Floor Exercise Championship with a score of 9.4. She finished sixth in the all-around out of 24 finalists with strong performances on the balance beam and the uneven bars. Briel is a member of Hill's Gymnastics in Gaithersburg and is coached by Amy Martelli.

Volleyball

The Columbia Volleyball Club 16U Thunder won the gold medal at the Columbia 15/16 Invitational Tournament May 4 at the Volleyball House in Elkridge. They finished first in competitive pool play over NVVA 16 White, MVA 16 Purple and WCJRS 15 Typhoons to earn a spot in the gold playoff bracket.

The team then defeated MVA 15 Black in the semifinals and NVVA 16 White in the championship to take home gold. The Thunder players are Rebecca Chamblee (Wilde Lake), Rachel Dubbs (Marriotts Ridge), Alyssa Glenn, Taylor Good (Centennial), Essence Holtzclaw, Madison Lim (Atholton), Katherine Sudbrook (Howard) and Taylor Swenski.

The Columbia Volleyball Club 17U Stars won the silver medal at the Columbia 17/18 Invitational Tournament on May 4 at the Volleyball House in Elkridge. They finished first in pool play over FVBC17s and UCVC Girls 17U-Black. The team then defeated MAVBC 18 North in the semifinals, before falling to the BRYC 18-1 team in the championship. Team members are Kira Hahn-Ventrell, Natalie Bockmiller, Heidi Liu (Centennial), Rachel Bergamini, Christina Kormis (Marriotts Ridge), Megan Herholtz, Jenny Mandl (Atholton), Lynn Walsh, Carly Jones (Wilde Lake) and Sienna Manoogian.
