She's adding to her medal collection at the 2012 London Paralympic Games, but this time she's collecting gold.
Monday, McFadden won her first gold medal in the 400-meters. Today, she added a second gold in the 800.
"I am so honored to say that I won another gold medal tonight," she wrote on her Facebook page. "Thank you. Thank you for everyone's support. Truly blessed!!!"
McFadden's next event is a 1,500 heat at 12:29 p.m.,(London time) Sept. 6. The 1,500 finals are Sept. 7 in the evening. Although her personal best in the 1,500 is a full minute faster than anyone else, McFadden's times this season are close to her competitors.
This is a special Paralypics for McFadden. She is entered in five events. The span of what she is attempting is historic because the events range from the 100 meters to the marathon.
In addition to winning the 800, McFadden has learned that she is nominated as one of seven finalists for the Women's Sports Foundation's Sportswoman of the Year in an Individual Sport.
McFadden is up against some "name" athletes — Gabrielle Douglas (gymnastics), Allyson Felix (track and field), Missy Franklin (swimming), Jessica Long (paralympics swimming), Lindsey Vonn (alpine skiing) and Serena Williams (tennis).
