He will now turn his focus to the indoor track season and try to accomplish his ultimate goal of running next season for Navy. Rau has already applied to the Academy and has gone through a round of interviews with select representatives.
"I enjoy challenges," said Rau, who has an unweighted 4.0 grade-point average. "I like pushing myself. Every day after a hard run, you just feel so good and accomplished. I've almost become addicted to that feeling of accomplishing something. With my running, my school work and everything I do, I just love that feeling of accomplishment."

Postseason highlights: Third at the county championship meet (17:18). Finished sixth in the 3A East regional meet (17:19). Placed eighth in the 3A state meet (16:36).
Adam Gartrell, Reservoir

Postseason highlights: Placed fifth at the county championship (17:34). Seventh at the 3A East regional meet (17:24). Finished 47th at the 3A state meet (17:57).
Chris Heydrick, River Hill
Year: Sophomore
Postseason highlights: Fourth at the county championship meet (17:25). Fifth at the 3A East regional meet (17:17) and 14th at the 3A state meet (17:12).
Adam Sachs, Centennial
Year: Senior
Postseason highlights: Finished sixth at the county championship meet (17:40). Placed eighth at the 3A East regional meet (17:32) and 17th at the 3A state meet (17:16).

Postseason highlights: Won the MIAA B Conference individual title at the MIAA combined championships at Oregon Ridge (16:49). Also placed sixth in unseeded varsity race at Georgetown Prep Classic. Placed first at five of the Dragons' six dual meets during the regular season.
