One day after earning the program’s first county championship tournament title, the Atholton girls were celebrating once again at Hobbit’s Glen Wednesday afternoon.
Competing in a tri-match against Marriotts Ridge and Centennial to close out the regular season, the Raiders put up 66 points to pull off a sweep and put the finishing touches on an undefeated campaign. It’s the first time the Atholton girls program has won the regular season crown.
Bryana Nguyen led the way with 24 points for Atholton, which easily outpaced Marriotts Ridge (44 points) and Centennial (20). Amanda Peterson (18), Avni Johnson (13) and Maddie Fields (11) rounded out the scoring for the Raiders.
Marriotts Ridge, which also came into the match undefeated, got 24 points from Rachel Lee to lead their second-place effort. The Mustangs finish the year 10-1.
In the boys tri-match Wednesday, also at Hobbit’s Glen, Centennial posted a sweep of its own to create a three-way tie for second place in the final county standings.
Centennial, which scored 89 points in the tri-match to beat Marriotts Ridge (74 points) and Atholton (73), finishes deadlocked with Glenelg and Marriotts Ridge at 9-2 on the year. Wilde Lake ended up alone in first courtesy of an 11-0 record.
Centennial’s Connor Flach and Matt McShane led all scorers Wednesday with 26 points apiece.
