Our civic association has worked tirelessly to direct the attention of the Executive Branch of Prince George's County to our little community. Tonight, we will have that attention.
It is very important to have a good attendance. We should take advantage of this rare opportunity and let our voices be heard.
Also at the meeting, Cpl. James Beasock will be collecting donations of canned goods for the Prince George's County Police Department's District 6 food drive. There is a great need in this area in these tough economic times, so fill up the food box for District 6's food drive. The West Laurel Civic Association is counting on us to show up and speak up. Hope to see you there.
Bethany Community Church, at 15720 Riding Stable Road, is hosting A Celebration of Community this Saturday, Oct. 29. Pastor Kevin McGhee is inviting the community for a day of fun and friendship.
The church is partnering with many other community organizations such as the West Laurel Civic Association, West Laurel Recreation Council, Laurel Advocacy and Referral Services, Winterhaven and Side by Side to share information. There will also be a free Stuff Swap that will take place starting at 8 a.m. where people can drop off "good stuff" they don't want and pick up "other stuff" they can use. It's a great way to clean up the clutter.
The Bond Mill Elementary School's 29th annual Craft Show will be held on Saturday, Nov. 19, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There are still some tables available for rent at $25 and $35. Call Bond Mill Elementary School between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, at 301-497-3600.
Coffee for Seniors will be held Thursday, Nov. 3, at 1 p.m. at the Laurel-Beltsville Senior Activity Center at 7120 Contee Road, behind the Laurel Regional Hospital. This will be a redo of the West Laurel Neighborhood Watch meeting held in September.
Seniors will be able to find out what actually happens when a 911 call is made. The Public Safety Communications Agency will present a very informative conversation about 911 and what it can mean to our seniors in the community.
Have a very safe and happy West Laurel Halloween!
