The Laurel Beltsville Senior Activity Center is hosting a Newcomer's Coffee at the senior center's own Café Latte on June 1, at 10 a.m.
Enjoy a free cup of coffee and learn about the senior center's classes and events. This would be a great time to ask those questions about the contemporary gym, the pottery kiln, the pool tables or the woodworking and dance classes. The senior center offers our senior community many worthwhile activities and opportunities.
If you've been wondering whether or not to check it out, this is your chance, and you can meet some new friends, too.
The First Friday Variety Dance is that evening. Dance the night away from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. with a great DJ. Cost is $3 per person. For more information about the Newcomer's Coffee or the Variety Dance, call 301-206-3387.
June 2 is Dumpster Day. The West Laurel Civic Association, in conjunction with the Prince George's County Waste Management Division, is sponsoring this special spring cleaning opportunity for our residents.
Bring your junk to the West Laurel Community Building on June 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. or until the three dumpsters are full. Hazardous materials and electronics will not be accepted: This includes oil, oil-based paint, tires, propane tanks and computer monitors. Mattresses, old furniture, light construction debris, old or broken toys and household items will be accepted.
If you are a senior citizen or need assistance, the WLCA will pick up your items and dispose of them for you. Contact Jason Float to schedule a pick-up at Jason.email@example.com or 443-878-6360. You can also contact Jason if you would be willing to volunteer on Dumpster Day or help with the senior citizen pick-ups.
Bond Mill Elementary's recycling program has resumed. The receptacles are outside, on the side of the school. The school encourages the neighborhood's help by recycling such items as newspapers, catalogs, magazines and lightweight cardboard.
Have a wonderful and safe Memorial Day weekend. Summertime, here we come!
