Laurel officials make safety priority on Halloween

City officials have declared Halloween trick-or-treat hours as Wednesday, Oct. 31 from 6 to 8 p.m., and urge parents to take precautions to keep their children safe.

Safety steps include having costumes that are flame resistant and reflect light to be visible in the early evening hours. City officials asked that residents be on the alert for trick-or-treaters in their neighborhood on Halloween, and "walk with caution, drive with care."

In a release, Laurel Police Chief Richard McLaughlin said residents should leave porch lights on if they wish to receive trick-or-treaters at their homes.
