The Open Arms Child Development Center at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 13611 Laurel Bowie Road, is excited to welcome a new director and assistant director. The new director, Rachel Clark, comes to the center from Atwood, Ala., where she was the lead teacher in a Head Start program. She has also served as an educator and administrator at Cross of Calvary Lutheran School in Memphis, Tenn. Clark holds a Bachelor of Science in early childhood education and additional child development credentials. She finds great joy in helping children grow and develop. She also looks forward to working with the center's 32 teachers whom she will direct and guide. The center's new assistant director, Helen Kasemeyer, has been working in an administrative position at Open Arms for more than five years after retiring after 38 years as a hospital administrator for a large veterinary practice. Kasemeyer couldn't stay retired long, and her love of people — especially children — led her to her latest career and now to the position of assistant director.
Open Arms provides half-day and full-day preschool programs, as well as before- and after-care for children ages 4 –12. Transportation is provided. For more information, call 240-568-9352.
Best wishes for a great school year to Open Arms and to the new staff!
