Happy spring! For many of us, spring can't come soon enough. With that in mind, Sunday, March 11 marks the beginning of daylight-saving time, so don't forget to set the clock forward one hour.

Many exciting volunteer opportunities abound in Anne Arundel County and here are just a few. From Monday, March 19 to Wednesday, March 21, the Naval Support Activity Annapolis at the U.S. Naval Academy is looking for volunteers ages 18 and over for role playing in a series of nation-wide Naval installation emergency exercises. Volunteers will report to NSAA in Annapolis and be assigned to play roles for the duration of the exercise. Volunteers are needed from noon to 2:30 p.m. on Monday, March 19; 8:30 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 20; and 8:30 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 21. Here is an opportunity to help save the Bay. On Saturday, April 21 from 9 a.m. to noon, volunteers are needed to help control storm water runoff by learning how to build a rain garden; weed and plant garden areas; and clean up underbrush and other debris from Lake Waterford Park in Pasadena. Watershed Stewards will be on site to discuss problems facing the Magothy River Watershed and to assign tasks. Volunteer waiver forms must be signed either there or in advance. The form can be emailed and must be co-signed by a parent for volunteers under 18 years old.
