Twelve teams played in three divisions at Side by Side's second annual Kicks for a Cause kickball fundraiser Saturday, Oct. 6 at McCullough Field.

The tournament netted $3,500, which will go toward Side by Side's Great Start program this fall, a series of 36 workshop evenings for kindergarten and pre-kindergarten families at six elementary schools.

Side by Side is a nonprofit organization that works to support Prince George's County elementary schools in Laurel. The Kicks for a Cause fundraising kickball tournament drew teams from local schools, churches, the Laurel Fraternal Order of Police, Laurel Historical Society and other organizations.
