The Cork and Bottle liquor store in the 500 block of Main Street was robbed by two men with guns Friday morning, Laurel Police said, the second armed robbery in the city in three days.
According to police, the two men, each with a handgun, entered the store at approximately 9:03 a.m., and ordered employees and two customers on the ground. They took an unknown amount of cash, and there were no injuries. A witness outside the store told police the men drove away in a light-colored sedan.
On Wednesday, Aug. 1, police reported two men with handguns robbed the 7-Eleven in the 14000 block of Laurel Bowie Road around 2 a.m. In that robbery, police said the two men were wearing ski masks and carrying handguns when they entered the store and demanded money. Police said one man pointed his gun at the clerk and stole money from the register, while the second forced the only customer in the store to the ground at gunpoint. The two men fled the store with an undetermined amount of cash, police said, and there were no injuries to either the store employee or customer.
City spokeswoman Carreen Koubeck said police do not believe the two armed robberies are related.
