Laurel bird watchers find human remains near Bacontown

Police said two bird watchers walking in the woods near the Oxbow Lake Nature Preserve Sunday found human remains in a wooded area off Spring Road, near Russett and Bacontown in Anne Arundel County.

Maryland City resident Jay Sheppard was he was bird watching in the area and met up with other bird watchers who had found the remains Sunday morning at the bottom of an old road bed.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore confirmed that what was found were human remains, which one bird watcher told police appeared to include a human skull.

Police said the cause and manner of death has not been determined.
