Letter: Anti-gay marriage letter misses the mark, widely

CultureAmerican Medical AssociationSame-Sex MarriageAmerican Academy of Pediatrics

Well, I am willing to go along with Ms. Currano on this one if she is able to explain how heterosexual marriages are not experimenting on children. When a pair of 20-somethings go down the aisle under the diagnosis of a gynecologist, I would suggest that the little bundle of joy will be experimented upon as soon as he or she gets out into the open air.

Very few new parents know what they are doing, and pretty much make it up as they go along. Happily, most human infants are pretty plastic, and manage to survive what their parents do to them.

Ms. Currano's anti-gay case would have been stronger had she not cited a study funded by an organization with connections to the journal in which it was published, and presently challenged by the American Psychological Association; the California Psychological Association; the American Psychiatric Association; the National Association of Social Workers; the American Medical Association; the American Academy of Pediatrics; and the American Psychoanalytic Association.
