Howard County police are investigating the shooting of a 15-year-old Baltimore County boy who was found in a field shortly after 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, in the 11400 block of Old Frederick Road, in Marriottsville.
The boy, whose name is not being released, was found by a nearby resident. He was flown to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore and was in critical but stable condition Wednesday morning, according to police spokeswoman Sherry Llewellyn.
Police said the teenager was driven to the location by unknown subjects, exited the car and was shot.
"He suffered a single gunshot wound to the head," said Llewellyn, who added that, "Detectives do not believe the shot was self-inflicted."
Llewellyn said that police believe the teen was involved in an ongoing dispute that may have lead to the incident.
Detectives are continuing to investigate the incident. Anyone with information should call police at 410-313-7867. Investigators are offering a reward of up to $2,000.
