When Renee Foose became superintendent of the Howard County Public School System last July, she announced the development of a five-year strategic plan — after gathering as much community input as possible.
Foose completed the first phase of data- and input-gathering through the Listen and Learn forums she hosted throughout the months of October, November and December.
Now, the school system has announced a series of strategic planning focus groups — open to staff, parents, students and community members — to discuss seven areas: teaching and learning, safe and nurturing environment, communication, family and community partnership, technology, business and organizational practices, and staffing and leadership development.
Focus group meetings are scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 23 from 4-6 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Centennial High School, 4300 Centennial Lane in Ellicott City , Monday, Jan. 28 from 4-6 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Howard High School, 8700 Old Annapolis Road in Ellicott City, and Friday, Feb. 1 from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at the Department of Education, 10910 Route 108 in Ellicott City.
