Father, two sons charged with attempted murder in Savage

The estranged husband and two sons of a Savage woman face charges in the attempted murder of the woman's boyfriend after the three confronted him with a baseball bat and hand gun at the woman's Savage home Tuesday, according to Howard County Police.

Robert Terrance Mobley Jr., 44; Robert Terrance Mobley III, 18; and Kevin Russell, 18, all of the 7700 block of  Waterloo Road in Jessup, were charged with first- and second-degree attempted murder, burglary and gun charges in connection with the incident that occurred about 7:45 p.m. at the residence located in the 8400 block of Commercial Street in Savage.

According to police, the woman said she was at her home when the three men arrived to confront the boyfriend.

The investigation revealed that one of the men, who is believed to be Russell, kicked in the side door of the house and, using a baseball bat, chased the man from a second-story rear bedroom out a window and on to the first-floor rooftop, police said.

The two other men, believed to Mobley Jr. and Mobley III, were on the porch directly underneath the rooftop the man had escaped to, police said.

From the bedroom window, Russell began swinging the bat at the man, police said. From underneath the roof, Mobley Jr. fired four to five rounds from a hand gun at the man, police said.

The second son, Mobley III, attempted to strike the victim with a club, police said.

According to police, all three men then fled through the backyard toward Savage Park. Police added Mobley Jr.'s truck was seen speeding away from the park.

The man sustained minor injuries to his foot from the club and scratches from glass window shattered by the baseball bat, police said.

Investigators traced the suspects to West Virginia, where they were arrested by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, police said.

All three are awaiting extradition to Howard County.
