A 57-year-old bridge on Old Montgomery Road in Elkridge is set to be replaced, the county announced last week.
The project is scheduled to begin "on or about" Jan. 7, according to a release from the Howard County government. Weather permitting, the project will be completed by mid-October.
The construction will involve road closures and detours, as the existing bridge — located a half-mile north of Route 108, under the Route 100 bridges, will be closed until the new one is complete.
According to the county, Old Montgomery Road will be closed from 0.4 miles north of Route 108, to 0.1 miles south of Brightfield Road. Traffic will be detoured using Route 108, Old Stockbridge Drive, Meadowridge Road and Brightfield Road.
