But how can we know that the students of Howard County schools are being represented in the best way for them, if we have no contact with him. I am working to make interaction between the students of Howard County and the SMOB mandatory. At least once a month the SMOB must go to a high school, and talk to the students in an open assembly after school, about upcoming BOE decisions, and get their opinions on what improvements they want to see in their schools. I want this to become a better known issue by reaching out to my peers to gain support. This is a big issue, and if students want to see change and have an effect on their educational environment they need to work together to make this happen. In his letter, Mussleman claims that the HOCO PTA's are taking a "hard lined stance against student health… ." The PTA's oppose the proposed revision to the Wellness Policy that mandates any food/beverages given or sold to students on school system property after school would have to comply with yet to be written HCPSS Nutritional Guidelines. I just wanted to thank the Laurel Leader for its article, "20th century marathons found a starting line in Laurel" (April 4). It was very generous of the Leader to put a big picture of my building that covers almost half the page, and then give credit to another business, instead of a business that has been running for 20 years, as the building in the background.
