Many thanks to the 12 teams and 12 sponsors involved in Side by Side's second annual "Kicks for a Cause" kickball tournament on Saturday, Oct. 6. Thanks to them, proceeds of about $3,500 will help pay for our Great Start program this fall – 36 workshop evenings for kindergarten and prekindergarten families at six local elementary schools. Congratulations to the tournament winners: James Harrison Elementary in the Student Division; the Laurel High staff in the Fun Division; and Laurel Historical Society in the Competitive Division. And special thanks to our "home run" sponsors – Southern Management Corp., Academy Ford, Chick-fil-A, Double Dipper Ice Cream Parlor, Fred Frederick Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge and Modell's Sporting Goods; as well as our "base hit" sponsors – Main Street Pharmacy, M&T Bank at Laurel Lakes, Mixed Martial Arts, Home Depot, El Charro Restaurant and Laurel's Lock Shops.
