Letter: Theology based on Biblical view of God condemns homosexuality

Same-Sex Marriage

In response to the letter "Theology deflects from facts in debate over gay marriage" (Oct. 18): Be careful how we define theology. In the writer's letter, the impression is given that the theological argument against gay marriage is obscure and contestable. That may be so if the theology we follow is one developed by humans or self. However, nothing could be farther from the truth when our theology is based on the Biblical view as presented by the God of the Scriptures. It is neither obscure nor contestable but extremely clear. Homosexuality is condemned — period. Relationships between homosexuals that try to mimic God's ordained relationships are therefore anathema.

The implication also is that we all view life from a secular position first and then we switch to theology as a crutch when we can't win with the secular. However, when you first view life through Biblical glasses as many do, then there is no reason to even consider the secular. There is a way that seems right to a man but its end is the way of death.

(For anyone interested in a further look at this subject, I have found the website, hopebiblechurch.org/designformarriage to be a Biblically based discourse on marriage and homosexuality with scripture references on the points discussed. The article is informational only, no ties attached.)
