It is always disappointing to read rave reviews of films which garner three and four stars, only to learn that — as usual — none of these films will be shown in Columbia's multiplexes. One must travel either to Baltimore or D.C. to see these films. Is sex-and-violence the only thing that appeals to Columbians?
I note that one of the multiplexes allots a couple hours once a month for the Metropolitan Opera. I wonder if one of our multiplexes could be persuaded to do the same thing for indie films?
