Nominations for the 2013 Prince George's County Teacher of the Year are due to the school system's Office of Communications by Friday, March 22.
The Prince George's County Teacher of the Year will go on to compete for the Maryland Teacher of the Year Award. The state's Teacher of the Year program recognizes the work done by outstanding teachers.
Students in grades 10-12 have another way to participate in the Teacher of the Year festivities: an essay contest with the theme "How My Teacher Inspires Me To Do My Best." Submissions must include the student's name, school, teacher and grade, and must be sent to the school system's Office of Communications by Wednesday April 10.
The first-place winners — one for every grade level — will be recognized at the Teacher of the Year Reception Thursday, May 2 at Martin's Crosswinds in Greenbelt.
