Howard County Executive Ken Ulman announced Thursday that he has appointed Dayna Brown as the new administrator for the Office on Aging, effective Monday, Nov. 14.

Brown is filling the position that was left vacant when Sue Vaeth resigned in August. She comes to Howard after serving eight years as the director of community programs for elder services of Merrimack Valley in Massachusetts. Before that, Brown worked for the East Boston Neighborhood Health Center.

"Dayna brings a wealth of experience to Howard County, and I believe she is the right person to lead the Office on Aging as we work to meet the current and future needs of our growing aging population," Ulman said in a statement.

Brown, who has a master's degree in gerontology administration from Boston College's Graduate School of Social Work, said she is looking forward to her new job.
