•1971 — Mall opens Aug. 2 with Hochschild Kohn and Woodward & Lothrop as anchors

•1972 — First poinsettia tree

•1975 — Hecht Company replaces Hochschild Kohn

•1981 — First expansion: Sears and 70 stores

•1989 — Carousel opens

•1996 — J.C. Penney replaces Woodward & Lothrop

•1996 — Hecht Company adds a third floor

•1998 — Lord & Taylor and parking garages added

•1999 — Second expansion: Nordstrom and wing added

•2000 — Food Court relocated to the Sear's wing (previously in Center Court)

•2001/2002 — L.L. Bean, Champps, PF Changs, Ztejas Southwest Grill (now Uno's) open in outdoor plaza.

•2003 — AMC Columbia 14 opens

•2005 — Cheesecake Factory opens

•2007 — GGP decides not to display poinsettia tree

•2008 — GGP responds to complaints, returns poinsettia tree

•2008 — Bun Penny closes

•2011 — Mall celebrates 40th birthday Aug. 2
