Kevin W. Bolden, 46, and Moneek Grant, 34, both of New Haven, Conn., were arrested earlier this month in Virginia, according to the Laurel Police Department.
News reports in Connecticut say Bolden and Grant are boyfriend and girlfriend.
Bolden is accused of trying to rob the PNC Bank in the 300 block of Main Street at about 10:50 a.m. on March 30, passing a teller a note demanding money and implying that he had a gun. When the teller confronted the man about whether he actually had a gun, the man fled empty-handed, police said.
Later that day, he robbed a bank in Gainesville, Va, police said.
Police in Virginia arrested him earlier this week after pulling him over for speeding and learning that he was wanted in Connecticut, according to The Washington Post.
Bolden was being sought in connection with robbing seven bank robberies and a hotel in Connecticut, the Post reported.orted.
