A Columbia woman has been indicted on attempted murder charges in connection with a shooting last month at her sister's home in Columbia.
Shirley Anne Bolton, 58, was indicted by a Howard County Grand Jury on July 3. She has been charged with first- and second-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault, and use of a firearm in a violent crime.
According to Howard County Police, Bolton, without warning, fired a shot at a private process server who was attempting to serve a subpoena to her sister on June 6. Police said that after the shot missed the server, Bolton threatened to shoot and kill the man. The man hid behind his truck and was unharmed.
Police said that when uniformed officers responded to the 8700 block of Carriage Hills Drive, Bolton was still holding the handgun and it took several orders from officers before she dropped the weapon.
Bolton's sister, who called 911, told police she was on the phone with the 911 operator when the shot was fired.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
