The three Baltimore County residents charged in the June shooting of a teenager in Marriottsville were indicted on attempted murder charges this week.
A Howard County grand jury indicted Donald George Peoples Jr., 21 of Nottingham, Laura Christian Karr, 25 of Reisterstown, and Chiquita Skewers, 21 of Randallstown, on first degree attempted murder, first degree conspiracy to commit murder, and other charges.
Sterling Watts, 15 of Reisterstown, was found in a Marriottsville field with a bullet lodged in his head on the evening of Tuesday, June 19. He was treated at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center and released July 7.
Police said on the night of the incident, Watts was abducted near his home by Peoples and Karr.
Police said the couple picked up Skewers, along with a loaded long-barrel rifle, and then drove to the Marriottsville field located in the 11400 block of Old Frederick Road.
Once there, police said Watts was shot in the back of the head by Peoples.
On Friday, July 13, Karr and Peoples were both arrested at the home of Karr's uncle, in Reisterstown. During the arrest, Cox was shot and killed by a Baltimore County police officer after he attacked police with a sword.
After interviews with Watts and an anonymous tip, detectives identified Peoples and Karr as suspects, and Karr's silver 2012 Mazda as the vehicle involved in the kidnapping.
All three are being held without bail at the Howard County Detention Center.Copyright © 2014, The Baltimore Sun
