A woman's remains found Wednesday buried in concrete under the floorboards of a shed in the backyard of an Elkridge home are those of Christine Jarrett, the 34-year-old woman who went missing from the home in 1991, Howard County Police confirmed Friday.
Her husband, Robert Arnold Jarrett, 57, was arrested late Wednesday for her murder.
Police were given permission Wednesday to search the property, in the 6000 block of Claire Drive, by Robert Jarrett's current wife, with whom he is separated and who is living in the home, they said.
A medical examiner determined the remains were those of Christine Jarrett by comparing them against dental records, police said.
Police had already suspected the remains found at the home were those of Christine Jarrett, in part because of personal effects located with the body, they said.
Police had previously suspected foul play was involved in her disappearance but did not have evidence to prove it, they said.
Robert Jarrett was denied bail Friday morning and is being held at the Howard County Detention Center in Jessup, according to court records.Copyright © 2014, The Baltimore Sun
