Summer playgrounds moved to new locations in Laurel

Summer playground programs scheduled to begin Monday, June 25 at Bond Mill Elementary, Laurel Elementary and James Harrison Elementary have been relocated because of ongoing construction projects at the schools, according to information released by the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission.

The summer playground program originally scheduled for Bond Mill Elementary will be held at the T. Howard Duckett Recreation Building, 16601 Supplee Lane, in West Laurel.

The summer playground program scheduled for Laurel Elementary has been moved to the Laurel Boys and Girls Club, 701 Montgomery St.; and the summer playground scheduled for James Harrison Elementary School will be held at Oaklands Elementary School, 13710 Laurel-Bowie Road.

The summer playground program at Montpelier Elementary was canceled because of construction at the school.

The drop-in, six-week summer playground programs are for children ages 6 to 12, and are held June 25 to Aug. 3, weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Participants must be 6 years old by Aug. 31 and residents of Prince George's County. Cost is $40 for the summer, regardless of how many days or weeks of camp a child attends; optional field trips require extra payment. There is no before- or after-care available.
