A 13-year-old Laurel boy who fired a BB gun and hit another 13-year-old male student in the leg while they were waiting at their school bus stop Tuesday morning has been charged on a juvenile citation with possessing a dangerous weapon on school property, second degree assault and reckless endangerment, according to Anne Arundel County Police.
Police said the victim sustained a minor injury that did not require medical treatment.
Both teens were students at MacArthur Middle School in Fort Meade.
School officials received a call from an unnamed parent who observed the student with the BB gun in the waistband of his pants but did not witness him shooting it at the other student. The student who fired the BB gun was identified after school officials pulled students off the bus when it arrived to school for interviews, according to police.
School administrators confiscated the BB gun and a knife with a seven-inch blade that was found in the student's backpack, according to police. The student was later released to his parent/guardian.
