Laurel Historical Society 2012 ornament

The Laurel Historical Society's 2012 holiday ornament is based on a historical photo of the Laurel cotton mill, which shows workers standing outside the mill. (Laurel Historical Society / November 12, 2012)

The Laurel Historical Society's 2012 holiday ornament depicts the historic Laurel Cotton Mill as it looked around 1920. The ornament, based on a photo in the museum's collection that shows mill workers in front of the building, complements the Laurel Museum's current exhibit, "True Life: I am a Laurel Mill Worker," which highlights the life and work of Laurel's mill workers.

Created by Chemart, the three-dimensional ornament costs $18 and is available at the Laurel Museum shop, 817 Main St., or online at

Ornaments offered previously in the Laurel Historical Society's collection are also available. The last day to order online for holiday delivery is Dec. 9.

The Laurel Museum and gift shop is open Wednesdays and Fridays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Sundays 1 to 4 p.m.
