Members of Laurel's District 21 state delegation — Democrats state Sen. Jim Rosapepe; and Dels. Barbara Frush, Joseline Peña-Melnyk and Ben Barnes — will sponsor two events this weekend to celebrate President Obama's second inauguration.
On Sunday, Jan. 20, a celebration and book signing will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. at Behnke Nurseries, 11300 Baltimore Ave. (Route 1), in Beltsville. University of Maryland law professor Larry Gibson will sign copies of his new book, "Young Thurgood: The Making of a Supreme Court Justice," which will be available for purchase. The event will have activities for children, cut-outs of Obama for photos and refreshments.
On Monday, Jan. 21, the District 21 delegation members will hold two watch parties from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The watch party at Sullivan's Steakhouse, 9624 Fort Meade Road, will also be hosted by Prince George's County Council member Mary Lehman, of Laurel. The second watch party will be held at Jason's Restaurant, 7356 Baltimore Ave., in College Park.
Each location will have a raffle for presidential T-shirts. Admission is free, lunch is on your own.
