Dogs howled, licked their owners and jumped through hoops to win ribbons at Laurel's fourth annual Dog Show Sunday, Sept. 23, at McCullough Field.

Show organizer Bonny DuCote, a program specialist with the city's Department of Parks and Recreation, said about 48 dogs competed in the show, and more dogs brought their owners to just hang out and enjoy the day.

Best vocal performance was won by a pair of howling dogs, and competitors in the most affectionate category snuggled, licked and rolled in the grass with their owners.

Some of the tricks performed included fetching duck decoys and showing off obedience to the tried and true sit-and-stay command.
