The city's new Community Garden Committee is holding its first community meeting to discuss plans for a Laurel community garden, Thursday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. at the Laurel Municipal Pool Clubroom, Ninth and Main streets.
Plans include having the garden established for the 2013 growing season. Committee members said their goals are to provide information to city residents on sustainable gardening, as well as create an opportunity for socialization while neighbors work together outdoors. The committee plans to donate to those in need a portion of any food harvested at the community garden.
