Weddings & Engagements: Three Ellicott City families announce engagements

Valerie Cappelaere and Sean Delaney

Doreen and Pat Cappelaere, of Ellicott City, announce the engagement of their daughter, Valerie Alice Cappelaere, to Sean Michael Delaney, son of Maryann and Mike Delaney, of Gaithersburg.

The bride-to-be is a 2009 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in aerospace engineering.

The future groom is also a 2009 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering. Both bride and groom are currently Navy jet pilots in training, stationed at Meridian Naval Air Station, in Mississippi.

A wedding is planned for February 2012 in Annapolis.

Amanda O'Brien and Collin Smith

Bruce and Debbie O'Brien, of Ellicott City, announce the engagement of their daughter Amanda Michele O'Brien, to Collin Smith, son of Jeffrey and Jeanette Smith, of Catonsville.

The bride-to-be is a 2008 graduate of Howard High School and is pursuing a degree in early childhood education. She is currently employed as a teacher at a daycare in Elkridge.

The future groom is a 2008 graduate from Arcadia University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in print communications. He is currently employed as a print technician at Coppin State University.

Patti Kogan and Stephen Godri

Robert and Elaine Kogan, of Ellicott City, announce the engagement of their daughter, Patti Kogan, to Stephen Godri, son of Edward and Mary Godri, of Harding, Pa.

The bride-to-be is a graduate of Centennial High School. She earned a Bachelor of Science from Pennsylvania State University and a Master of Business Administration from The George Washington University, in Washington. She is currently employed as a senior manager at Deloitte Consulting, in Washington.

The future groom is a graduate of Wyoming Area High School, in Exeter, Pa. He earned a Bachelor of Science from Kings College, in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. He is currently employed as vice president at BlackRock, in Wilmington, Del.

A wedding is planned for April 14, in Baltimore.
