The Lisbon Volunteer Fire Company will hold a flea market on Sept. 15 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. by the traffic circle at Routes 144 and 94.
Space is still available for any vendors. Proceeds will go to build the new fire station.

The Calvary Lutheran Church will hold its annual Fall Fest and Yard Sale on Sept. 29 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Yard sale spaces are available for $25.
The church will be selling mums, pumpkins, apples, baked goods and more. Breakfast and lunch will also be available to purchase. The church is at 16151 Old Frederick Road in Lisbon.

The Howard County Department of Citizen Services' Office of Children's Services will sponsor workshops for parents and guardians of children from birth to age 8.
The "Family First" series covers topics about child development, encouraging self-esteem and good behavior, positive guidance and discipline, and how to keep children safe and healthy.
Classes offer an interactive group format with tips and advice and hands-on activities. This is a series of four classes; but participants may attend one or all.
The cost is $7 per class. Classes will be held every other Saturday from Sept. 15 through Oct. 27 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at the Bain Center, 5470 Ruth Keeton Way, in Columbia.

The Howard County Master Gardeners of the University of Maryland Extension are sponsoring a tour of a local Bay-Wise certified garden on Sept. 8 from 1 to 4 p.m.
The tour will focus on the lovely property and how the homeowners are helping to protect the Chesapeake Bay through the design of the property's gardens, plants and trees.
