Jonathan and Kelly Caplan
Paules and Kathleen Gibson, of Lewisburg, Pa., announce the marriage of their daughter, Kelly Lynn Gibson, to Jonathan Lee Caplan, son of Howard and Diane Caplan, of Columbia, on May 22, 2011.
The bride is a 1987 graduate of Lewisburg High School; a 1991 graduate of Pennsylvania State University; and earned a Master of Science in marketing from Johns Hopkins University. She is currently employed in the philanthropy and fundraising department of Washington Gas, in Washington.
The groom is a 1989 graduate of Wilde Lake High School in Columbia; a 1993 graduate of West Chester University; and earned a law degree from the University of Baltimore. He is currently practicing law in the Washington area.
The ceremony was held at the Sanderling Resort and Spa, in Duck, N.C. The Rev. Tanya Young officiated.
Jane Wirt, the sister of the bride, served as the matron of honor. Nell Ann Shelley, a friend of the bride, served as a bridesmaid. Lilly Wirt, a niece of the bride, served as the junior bridesmaid. Daphne Linn, the bride's great-niece, and Melissa Freeman, the groom's niece, served as flower girls.
Arman Ravery, a friend of the groom, served as the best man. Tim Wirt, friend and brother-in-law of the groom, served as a groomsman. The groom's nephew, Chris Freeman, served as the ring bearer.
A reception followed on the Currituck Sound.
The couple will honeymoon in December in Costa Rica. They currently reside in Laurel.
Marcus and Kelly Blair
Garry and Patricia Walker, of Douglassville, Pa., announce the marriage of their daughter, Kelly Nicole Walker, to Marcus David Blair, son of Clarence Blair, of Bowie, and Sandra Poyner, of Columbia, on July 16, 2011.
The bride is a 1999 graduate of Daniel Boone Junior-Senior High School, in Birdsboro, Pa., and a 2003 graduate of the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, in Indiana, Pa. She is currently employed at Oaklands Elementary School, in Laurel.
The groom is a graduate of Hammond High School and Hampton University, in Hampton, Va. He is currently employed by CoverCare, in Cambridge.
The ceremony was held at the Stirling Guest Hotel, in Reading, Pa. Pastor Christopher Bryan Lockemy officiated. Molly Walker, the sister-in-law of the bride, served as the maid of honor. Aaron Skiles and Shane Fitzgerald, friends of the groom, served as the best men.
A reception followed at the hotel.
The couple honeymooned in Cancun, Mexico.
Fikile and Karen Guralnick
Leonard and Ann Guralnick, of Columbia, announce the marriage of their daughter, Karen Ann Guralnick, to Fikile Richard Brushett, son of Stephen Brushett and Refiloe Bam, of Silver Spring, on June 25, 2011.
The groom is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and earned a PhD in chemical and biomolecular engineering from the University of Illinois. He is currently employed as a post doctoral researcher for Argonne National Laboratory, near Chicago.
The ceremony and reception were held at the Columbia Sheraton Hotel. Amber Arshad, a lifelong friend of the bride, served as the maid of honor. The groom's college roommate, John Ingram, served as the best man.
The couple honeymooned in Hawaii and currently reside in Oswego, Ill.
Ngozi Okaro and Eric Palmer
Former Columbia residents Amy Powell, now of Baltimore, and James Okaro, now of Lagos, Nigeria, announce the engagement of their daughter, Ngozi Okaro, to Eric Palmer, son of Cecilia James, of Gastonia, N.C., and Clarence James, of Williamstown, N.J.
The bride-to-be is a graduate of Wilde Lake High School; earned a Bachelor of Arts from Morgan State University; and earned a law degree from the Georgetown University Law Center. She is currently self-employed as a philanthropic advisor.
The future groom is a graduate of Glassboro High School, in Glassboro, N.J., and earned a Bachelor of Science from Wilkes University, in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. He is currently employed as a controller at Infrastructure Technologies Inc.
A wedding is planned for Sept. 24.
Bryce and Casey Armstrong

The bride is a 2001 graduate of Westlake High School and a 2005 graduate of the University of Maryland. She is currently employed as a fifth-grade teacher in the Frederick County Public School system.
The groom is a 1994 graduate of Hammond High School and a 1998 graduate of the University of Colorado. He previously served in the U.S. Marine Corps in Iraq and Afghanistan. He is currently employed by the Department of Defense.
A ceremony was held at the American Visionary Art Museum. Matthew Hoh officiated. Jillian R. Keys, sister of the bride, served as the maid of honor. Ryan Armstrong, brother of the groom, served as the best man.
A reception followed at the museum.
