Last month, West Friendship Elementary School conducted its annual Tiger Trot, which serves as both a fundraiser and a fitness activity.
The students found sponsors to support them in this endeavor and then gleefully devoted their recess on Oct. 24 to maneuvering the Walk and Weave, the Balance Crawl and the Jump.
To sweeten the pot, the top three fundraisers earned prizes.
The first place student won an overnight trip for six to Great Wolf Lodge, in Williamsburg, Va., plus a $100 gift card. The second place student won two tickets to a Ravens football game, and the third place student won a winter party for 25 children at the Ellicott City YMCA.
In all, the students raised $4,000 for the school. Way to go!
Several West Friendship Elementary students deserve recognition as the November Band Musicians of the Month. Congratulations to Jonathan Bitterli (tuba), Eric Ellis (trumpet), Avery Gloyd (trombone), Leslie Looney (trumpet), Kyle Parker (trombone), Alyssa Peffall (percussion), Luke Whalen (percussion) and Will Vaxmonsky (trumpet). These students have worked hard and demonstrated good attitudes.
