The Historic National Road Yard Sale will be held on June 2 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. One of the locations for the sale will be at the Poplar Springs United Methodist Church. The church is located on East Watersville Road in Howard County.
The church will be selling space for vendors or neighbors who are looking to sell items they no longer need. To reserve a space, call 410-489-7269. The church will be selling refreshments as part of their fundraising efforts.
Local author Patty Sroka will be signing her book, "Relentless," on Saturday, May 12 at Greetings and Readings in Hunt Valley from 4 to 7 p.m. She will also be doing a book signing on May 19 in Laurel, Del., at the Changing Fates Equine Rescue.
If you would like to purchase her book online or at the bookstore, Patty uses the name, P.J. O'Dwyer as her pen name. I have a signed copy of her book and have been reading it. I can tell you that it's really a great book. I've really enjoyed reading it and wish I had more time to sit down and read more of it each day. It's a romance mystery. I pride myself on being able to identify the villain in most books, but I'm stumped on this one. That is the key to a good book.
The youth group at St. Michael's Catholic Church is again collecting ink jet cartridges, cell phones and chargers for their recycling fundraiser. Last year, the group raised $600 for its technology program. Unfortunately, they are no longer recycling the large toner and laser cartridges. If you would like to donate your old cartridges and cell phones to this worthy cause, you can drop them off at the church.
St. Michael's Catholic Church's health care ministry will be sponsoring a presentation on "Saving Money on Prescription Drug Costs" on May 23 at 2 p.m. The presentation will discuss available benefits and programs for saving money on prescription drugs.
Professional counselors will be available to discuss personal health situations. Light refreshments will be provided and there will also be door prizes. The presentation will be held in Room A007 in St. Michael's education wing.
The Men's Club of St. Michael's will be holding its annual Mother's Day plant sale on Saturday and Sunday, May 12 and 13. There will be a variety of hanging baskets, bedding plants, tomatoes and other vegetable plans available for sale. Proceeds will go to support parish activities.Copyright © 2015, The Baltimore Sun
